Russian air defense system S-400 arrived in Belarus for exercises

The S-400 anti-aircraft missile system arrived in Belarus as part of an inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State. This was announced on Thursday, February 3, by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Eastern Military District, involved in checking the response forces of the Union State, has arrived in the Republic of Belarus,” the ministry’s press service said.

It is specified that the personnel will march on standard equipment to an unfamiliar training ground in the Brest region.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian crews of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system will carry out engineering equipment, camouflage of starting positions, maintenance of equipment, and will also take up combat duty as part of the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Belarus and Russia.

Earlier, on February 2, it was reported that the troops of the Eastern Military District and the armed forces of Belarus began combat coordination at the Belarusian training grounds as part of the first stage of testing the response forces of the Union State.

It was noted that in the course of combat coordination, defensive techniques are practiced, as well as methods of combating illegal armed groups.

The first stage of testing the response forces of the Russian Federation and Belarus will last until February 9.

The second stage will take place from 10 to 20 February. The forces of Belarus and Russia will hold a joint exercise “Allied Resolve – 2022”, within which they will work out tactics for suppressing and repelling external aggression, as well as countering terrorism.

Earlier, on January 27, Major General Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (AF) of Belarus, spoke about the defensive nature of the Allied Resolve 2022 exercises. According to him, the exercises do not pose any threat either to the European community or to neighboring countries.

Gulevich also noted that during the second stage of the inspection of the Armed Forces of the Union State, defensive actions to cover the state border of Belarus will be worked out.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian Su-35S fighters had completed the redeployment of Russian Su-35S fighters in Belarus as part of the Allied Resolve 2022 exercises. After arriving in Belarus, the fighter crews will take up combat duty for air defense.

On January 18, units from the Russian Armed Forces began to arrive in Belarus as part of an inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State.
