The Russian government has extended benefits for tour operators for a year

The government extended benefits for tour operators for contributions to the Turopomoshchi funds for a year, Izvestia was told on Thursday, February 3, in Rostourism.

It is noted that contributions to the Reserve Fund for 2022, as in previous pandemic years, will be reset to zero and will amount to a symbolic 1 ruble. Contributions to the personal liability funds of tour operators for 2022 will be reduced by four times and will amount to 0.25% of the total price of the outbound tourism product.

“The measure is aimed at supporting the stability of the tour operator market, as the coronavirus pandemic continues, and the tourism industry has not yet recovered to pre-crisis levels. We expect that, together with other support measures, it will allow tour operators to continue working and fulfill their obligations to tourists,” the ministry added.

On February 1, the head of Rostourism, Zarina Doguzova, said that an amended government decree giving tour operators the right to defer refunds to tourists for tours canceled during the pandemic should be adopted before the end of February.

On December 29, Rostourism told Izvestia that, under the new law on tourism, travelers will be able to refund the entire cost of canceled tours up to 40,000 rubles, which will protect low-income families.

Within the framework of the existing compensation mechanism, tourists are often left without rest and money: returns do not exceed 5%. In addition, now hotels will no longer be able to “draw” stars for themselves on the websites of travel aggregators. Guest houses, beaches, sanatoriums and campsites will fall under voluntary, and ski slopes – under mandatory classification along with hotels.
