Customs officers in Khabarovsk stopped the smuggling of the drug MDMA (ecstasy) on a large scale. This was announced on Thursday, February 3, by the 360 TV channel.
Customs representatives said that the banned substance came to the Russian Federation from Germany. The package contained 100 tablets containing 40 g of a prohibited substance. Under Russian law, such a quantity qualifies as a large amount.
The customs officers were able to establish that the parcel from another country, in which the drugs were located, was sent to the address of a resident of Khabarovsk. The recipient was detained at the post office, he said that a friend had asked him to receive the parcel.
It was possible to detain and the real customer. It turned out to be a 38-year-old man who purchased illegal substances on the Internet for personal use. He asked a friend to receive the package, because he knew about the criminal liability for such actions. He fully admitted his guilt.
The court of Khabarovsk sent the customer to a strict regime colony for four years and six months, he is already serving his sentence.
In Kaliningrad on February 2, the alleged leader of an organized criminal group, suspected of possession of drugs and weapons, was detained. During a search at the place of residence of the suspect, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were found and seized, the total weight of which was more than 56 kg. In addition, three weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
A criminal case has been initiated against the dealer under articles on the illegal acquisition and storage of substances, as well as their sale. Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years, the Federal News Agency notes.
