Rostourism does not expect bankruptcies of large tour operators in 2022

Bankruptcies of large tour operators like Mouzenidis Travel should not be expected in 2022, Zarina Doguzova, head of Rostourism, said in an interview with Izvestia.

“Not to wait. We are doing everything possible for this, ”she said, answering the corresponding question from Izvestia.

To prevent the problems of tourists, Rostourism takes preventive measures.

“Just the other day, we excluded two tour operators for domestic tourism from the register (Unified Federal Register of Tour Operators. – Izvestia) for serious violations,” Doguzova said.

The head of Rostourism recalled that at the end of 2021, Rostourism submitted to the government a draft new law “On Tourism”, which revised the compensation mechanism for failed trips in case of problems with the tour operator. The maximum amount of payment is proposed to be set at 40 thousand rubles.

“Calculating the maximum amount of compensation of 40 thousand rubles per person, we took the average cost of a tour for a week, it is just 35-40 thousand. Someone says that this is not enough, but let’s see what is happening now. Today, in the event of the bankruptcy of a tour operator, customers, as a rule, receive practically nothing – less than 5%, ”she said.

In particular, clients of Mouzenidis Travel (a large tour operator in Greece that went bankrupt in 2021. – Izvestia) are now paid only 3-4 thousand rubles each, recalled Zarina Doguzova.
