Tax revenues from the tourism industry to the Crimean budget in 2021 increased by 1.5 times compared to the previous year and amounted to 5.78 billion rubles. This was reported on Friday, February 4, in the press service of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic.
According to the ministry, in 2020, receipts from the tourism industry in Crimea amounted to 3.8 billion rubles.
“In the total amount of taxes, according to the Federal Tax Service, for 2021, tourism receipts amounted to 9.8% (for 2020, the share was 7.8%). According to expert estimates, the tourism sector provides a multiplier effect in the form of tax revenues from tourism-related industries in the amount of more than 25%,” the report says.
In September 2021, the head of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea, Vadim Volchenko, said in an interview with Izvestia that the past holiday season was extremely successful for Crimea. During the summer, more than 5.2 million tourists visited the region, which is 1.5 times more than in the summer of 2020.
He noted that the income from services provided by accommodation facilities in the region for the first half of 2021 exceeded the figures for January-June 2020 by 4.5 times and amounted to over 14.2 billion rubles.
In October of the same year, the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic reported that due to additional restrictive measures introduced due to the spread of coronavirus infection in the fall, the flow of tourists to Crimea decreased by 15-20%.
