Two workers caught in an avalanche on Sakhalin were found alive. This was announced on Saturday, February 5, by the government of the Sakhalin region in Telegram.
“Four workers were dismantling a pipe near the Poltavskaya River on the territory of the Solntsevsky coal mine. As a result of the avalanche, two of them ended up under the snow,” the report said.
It is noted that thanks to the prompt actions of the rescuers, both workers who fell under the avalanche were quickly found and taken out. One person was hospitalized, his condition is not specified. The second, according to preliminary data, is alive and well.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that employees of the Mining paramilitary mountain rescue center and other duty services were working at the scene. In total, 51 people and 10 pieces of equipment took part in the rescue operations.
Earlier, on January 30, two avalanches descended on the road between Nevelsk and Shebunino in the Sakhalin region. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that there were no dead or injured due to the snow melting. Two teams of three people and two pieces of equipment were involved in clearing the road. By 8:30 am (00:30 Moscow time) the road was cleared, the passage was resumed, there was no accumulation of vehicles.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations remind that when getting into an avalanche, the main task is to protect the respiratory tract from snow dust. To do this, you can use a collar, scarf, hood, hat or palm. According to statistics, more than a third of people get out of an avalanche without assistance.
