In Russia, isolation is canceled for those who have been in contact with patients with coronavirus infection. The corresponding resolution of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation was published on the Internet portal of legal information.
“Clause 3.8 is declared invalid,” the document says.
Clause 3.8 ordered people who had contact with patients with COVID-19 to be in isolation for at least seven calendar days.
The decision comes into force on February 6.
The day before, immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov told Izvestia that the abolition of quarantine for those who had contact with patients with coronavirus infection could lead to a worsening of the situation with COVID-19 in Russia. The immunologist cited Denmark as an example, whose authorities have lifted restrictive measures, but hospitalization in the country has reached record levels. At the same time, he stressed that the authorities of the United States, Germany, Italy, Norway and Israel have not lifted restrictions, although in these countries the percentage of those vaccinated is much higher than in Russia.
In addition, Kryuchkov added that the opinion that the Omicron coronavirus strain that is now widespread is easy is erroneous.
A day earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said that special actions to limit contacts simply lose their meaning, and with other variants of the coronavirus, different tactics will be used.
At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a possible lifting of restrictions for people who had contact with patients with coronavirus.
A large-scale vaccination campaign continues in Russia. Citizens can get vaccinated for free. Six coronavirus drugs have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, KoviVac, EpiVacCorona N, and the Sputnik M vaccine for adolescents.
