The Leninsky District Court of Stavropol arrested for two months the Minister of Tourism and Health Resorts of the Stavropol Territory, suspected of exceeding his official powers when concluding a contract to host a fireworks festival. This was stated on February 6 in a message on the website of the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to data on the website of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation, the head of the Ministry of Tourism of Stavropol is Kirill Reut.
“The court agreed with the position of the prosecutor’s office, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months against the suspect,” the supervisory authority noted.
On the basis of an audit by the prosecutor’s office of the Stavropol Territory and materials of the operational-investigative activities of the FSB in the region, a criminal case was initiated against the official of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region under paragraph “c” of Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Exceeding official powers with causing grave consequences”).
The minister was detained the day before, February 5. In 2021, the regional Ministry of Tourism signed a state contract to host a fireworks festival, the prosecutor’s office noted.
It turned out that its subject was the services actually provided in 2020. It is also noted that commercial offers were falsified, and the total cost was overestimated by 10 times.
According to the investigation, the actions of the minister caused damage to the budget of the region in the amount of more than 25.1 million rubles. The course of the investigation of the case is under the control of the prosecutor’s office of the Stavropol Territory.
Earlier, on January 22, the Russian government dismissed Vladimir Tokarev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, who was arrested on charges of fraud.
Tokarev was detained on January 19 in connection with the events of five years ago. We are talking, in particular, about embezzlement at the Spetstransstroy company, where he worked as first deputy general director several years ago. The media, citing a source, reported that Tokarev, together with his accomplices, organized the conclusion of fictitious contracts to withdraw money from the accounts of a company controlled by him.
On January 21, the Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow arrested the accused for two months, reminds Gazeta.Ru. The defendant pleaded not guilty.
