State Duma deputies spoke about the bill on excess of self-defense

Member of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Adalbi Shkhagoshev commented on Monday, February 7, on the bill on excess of self-defense.

“I fully support the thesis that “my house is my fortress,” the parliamentarian emphasized in an interview with RT.

According to the deputy, the success of this bill depends on the details prescribed in it. Shkhagoshev also noted that the topic of self-defense is very relevant and resonant.

He stressed that the expert community often notes that sometimes there is a kind of bias, when the one who defended himself is responsible for the consequences.

“When I personally see the bill, I will be ready to discuss it. Of course, with the involvement of the expert community, without any doubt. Our position is as follows: the purpose of any bill is to protect people. If this is really the case, then we will move in this direction, we will discuss in detail, ”he concluded.

In turn, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, Yuri Sinelshchikov, expressed the opinion that the initiative to grant the right to unlimited self-defense in case of illegal entry into the house requires careful study, writes Moskva 24.

“I think that a defender cannot have unlimited possibilities. There are always limits to defense,” he said.

At the same time, State Duma deputy Yaroslav Nilov, the author of the bill on the use of self-defense in the event of an attack on housing, said in an interview with NSN that there would be no problems with law enforcement officers who were allowed to enter residential premises because of this initiative.

Earlier that day, Izvestia wrote that State Duma deputies had sent a bill to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Supreme Court for review, proposing to give citizens the right to protect their lives, relatives and friends by all means from any criminal encroachment of persons illegally entering a house or apartment.

The explanatory note to the document specifies that the dwelling is entered not only for the purpose of taking possession of other people’s property. Sometimes it ends in murder, grievous bodily harm, rape or kidnapping.
