Honored Artist of Russia, clown, trainer Vladimir Deryabkin remained in the memory of his friend and colleague, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Yuri Kuklachev as an “unexpected person” due to his hobbies and talents. Kuklachev spoke about this on Monday, February 7, in an interview with Izvestia.
“Volodya Deryabkin is my friend. We worked together in the circus, although we never met in the same program. Because we are both clowns. Volodya was distinguished by the fact that he was very artisan, economic. He always had a clean and tidy trailer. He created interesting, large numbers, and at some point he suddenly began to perform with a bear. He lived with creativity, all the time he created something, he was looking for, ”Kuklachev shared.
He added that Deryabkin constantly surprised, for example, by collecting gramophones and samovars. According to Kuklachev, Deryabkin seemed to have no external data for a clown – thin, nondescript. But in fact, he turned out to be a meaningful and bright artist.
“Another trait of his: he was an unexpected person. Suddenly he started writing songs. Then once – and left the circus. I once asked him: “Where did you go?” And he told me: “I became a bard!” And then I didn’t know what it was. It turns out he sings songs. Volodya Deryabkin never did harm to anyone. In life there are people who envy success, talent, prosperity, and then they also slander, harbor resentment. But Volodya Deryabkin was not like that. Always calm, smiling, always enjoying life,” said the circus performer.
Kuklachev said that Deryabkin’s son, Vladimir Deryabkin Jr., also became a clown, and even with a business streak. Of the young, in his opinion, the most talented artist. The head of the theater of cats is sure that his father passed on his skills to his son, and Volodya Jr. will reach very great heights if he continues to develop in circus art.
“I’ve seen him lately [Дерябкина-старшего. — Ред.] videos in social networks: performed, sang, talked about himself. But it was clear from his eyes that he was sick with something. It’s a pity that he left so early… 72 years old… My age. My condolences to family and friends. But Volodya is well done, he left a mark both in his work and in his heirs. The circus is a dynastic business. Everything is built on this. Therefore, the son of Volodya must continue the work of his father, ”concluded Yuri Kuklachev.

Vladimir Deryabkin was a country-famous clown and bear trainer, a student of Oleg Popov. The Museum of Gramophones and Phonographs created by him became not only the only one in Russia, but also one of the largest in the world.
