A man suspected of blowing up an ATM in the Moscow region was previously convicted of robbery. On Tuesday, February 8, TASS was informed by a source in law enforcement agencies.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that the man had previously been convicted under Part 2 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”), he is currently not working anywhere. The second participant in the robbery, who died in the explosion, was also unemployed.
The incident occurred on the night of February 7 at the branch of Sberbank on Studencheskaya Street in Ivanteevka, the website kp.ru writes. Two intruders tried to open the ATM with gas, which caused an explosion and a small fire behind it. The blast wave damaged the glazing of the facade, interior decoration and the front door. A criminal case was initiated under the article on attempted theft, the Zvezda TV channel reports. The second suspect surrendered to police on 7 February. As the 360 TV channel clarifies, he did it voluntarily. It turned out to be a previously convicted native of Udmurtia, born in 1988, writes NSN.
