Each April 7the world commemorates the World Health Daya date that invites us to reflect on the value of the prevention and the fundamental role that education and information in the construction of healthier and resilient communities play.

FromEDUPASmore than 9 years ago we work together with SC Johnson, strengthening prevention strategies in communities and promoting the right to health through education, participation and access to accessible and scientifically reliable information. In a context where diseases such as dengue, Zika or Chikungunya fever expand rapidly, especially in urban areas with greater vulnerability, knowledge becomes a key tool for prevention.

Educate to prevent: health as collective construction

In Argentina, dengue shoots have intensified in recent years. In the 2023-2024 period, the estimated number of infections exceeded 700,000 suspicious cases. A period in which we were affected by the child’s phenomenon in our region. According to the Epidemiological Bulletin No. 748, 112, so far this season 2024/2025 (SE 31/2024 to 10/2025) 42,892 suspicious cases were recorded, of which 2,845 were confirmed (2,773 native), a figure that highlights the urgency of acting.

As an organization dedicated to the development of health prevention and promotion programs, we consider the joint articulation with other actors that share our purposebecause we understand that no solution is effective if it is not complemented with joint actions, working collectively. With that goal, within the framework of the 2016 Dengue epidemic we design the campaign Chau Mosquito in alliance with SC Johnsonto collaborate in the prevention of diseases transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti. The campaign is aimed at eradicating homemade mosquito farms and periodic periods, and to promote community prevention actions to protect the health of families and communities. The success of this initiative lies in its Red Conceptionin their Participatory Methodologies and in the key role of the community multipliers, who generate a “waterfall effect” that transforms information into concrete actions in their communities. Also in the articulation with government agencies and civil society organizations that allow us to weaving an inclusive prevention plot where each part is important: a social mosquito net for prevention.

On this World Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to health designed from and for communities. Because an informed and strengthened community is the best barrier against diseases. And because we believe that health begins much earlier: it begins in prevention, in education and in every decision we make to protect each other.
