The lawyer commented on the conviction of the teacher who read Kharms

A person with an outstanding criminal record cannot get a job as a teacher in a school, perhaps the check before hiring her was carried out poorly. This opinion was shared with Izvestia on February 9 by a lawyer, director of the Moscow Bar Association Liptser, Stavitskaya and Partners, Dmitry Agranovsky, commenting on the information that appeared in the media that the teacher Serafima Saprykina, who read poems by Alexander Vvedensky and Daniil Kharms at the lesson, until this was tried and changed her surname, name and patronymic.

“The fact itself is, of course, very interesting and the relevant authorities are now working on it. You and I do not know all the circumstances, under what circumstances she changed her first and last name, when her conviction was canceled, whether it was canceled. A person with an unexpunged, outstanding conviction cannot get a job as a teacher. I respect the presumption of innocence, and now I don’t want to blame the representatives of education, who, perhaps, did not check properly and hired her, ”said the lawyer.

Agranovsky added that, in his opinion, reading Kharms and Vvedensky in a lesson that was supposed to be devoted to the Battle of Moscow is unacceptable from a moral point of view.

Earlier that day, information appeared that the teacher of Serafim Saprykin was Kazimova Sima Chingizovna, who in 2008 received a two-year suspended sentence for intentionally causing grievous bodily harm. Subsequently, Kazimova, according to some information, changed her first and last name to Serafim Saprykin and got a job as a teacher at a school in St. Petersburg.

On February 6, Saprykina reported that the administration of gymnasium No. 168 in the Central District of St. Petersburg forced her to quit after she read poems by Vvedensky and Kharms to tenth graders. According to her, the representative of the administration called these poets “enemies of the people” and “accomplices of the Nazis.” The press service of the administration of the Central District denied her words and stated that the teacher resigned of her own free will.

Svetlana Lebedeva, director of gymnasium No. 168 of the Central District, told Izvestiya that an hour is held every day at the gymnasium, during which children are introduced to various historical events or personalities. At the same time, one of these classes, which took place in December, was devoted to the battle near Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 7 that the information about the dismissal should be carefully checked. In turn, the head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, noted that the teacher should be reinstated. He also called on all administrative workers to be “more sensitive” to teachers.

The poet Daniil Kharms was arrested for the second time in 1941, he was accused of spreading “slanderous and defeatist sentiments” in his entourage and was placed in the Kresty prison, where he died a year later. Kharms was rehabilitated in 1960.

Alexander Vvedensky was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary agitation, while being transferred to a train to Kazan in 1941, he died of pleurisy, he was rehabilitated in 1964.
