During the coronavirus pandemic around the world, the debt for medical care has increased and the queues for receiving it have increased, Melita Vujnovich, representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, said in an interview with Izvestia.
The planning and preparation process for responding to the challenges posed by the adverse health effects of climate change was also temporarily suspended.
“An unacceptably high price has been paid in the form of huge human losses: since the start of the pandemic in the WHO European Region, 99 people have died from COVID-19 every hour. The pandemic has had an extremely negative impact on the learning and mental well-being of children. However, thanks to outstanding scientific work in the field of medicine and cross-border cooperation, a large number of vaccines are currently developed and used in the world. This is one of the greatest scientific achievements in many decades, the WHO representative added,” said Melita Vujnovic.
