The Russian army will begin to use robotic troops

Robotic systems will soon find application in the railway troops. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia on Friday, February 11, by Lieutenant-General Oleg Kosenkov, head of the Main Directorate of the Railway Troops of the Ministry of Defense.

“Military scientists are conducting various kinds of research in the direction of using robotic systems by units of the railway troops. I think that in the near future they will find application in our country,” Kosenkov said.

He also noted that “over the past few years, equipment has been received for transporting floating railway bridges, for dosing ballast on the railway track, and mobile units. In the future, it is planned to supply new track layers, as well as devices for the movement of wheeled vehicles by rail.”

The general also spoke about plans to attract railway troops to build new sections of tracks, bridges, and tunnels.

“We are working with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and Russian Railways OJSC. We are cooperating on the issue of attracting railway troops to the implementation of new construction and reconstruction facilities. There are already certain developments on the participation of troops in the implementation of the third stage of the development of the railways of the Eastern range on the Baikal-Amur railway, ”Kosenkov shared with Izvestia.
