Moscow’s first female driver of Russian Railways went on a flight

Sofya Dorofeeva, a female machinist, for the first time went on an independent flight in Moscow on a suburban electric train of the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway (MZhD). This was announced on Friday, February 11, by the press service of the regional Ministry of Transport.

Dorofeeva works at the Domodedovo railcar depot. In January 2021, she, among 12 women, came to the Moscow Railways as an assistant driver and was the first to master the profession of an electric train driver, the Moscow City News Agency reports.

Dorofeeva received a certificate of the right to drive rolling stock in November after graduation.

The opportunity for women to work as part of locomotive crews – assistant drivers and drivers – of electric trains appeared after the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia entered the list of professions available to women, the 360 ​​TV channel notes.

In total, five girls work at the MZD as electric train driver assistants in radial directions, four of them at the MCC. Two more women work as assistants to the driver of locomotive crews of long-distance passenger trains.

In January 2021, the Ministry of Labor excluded more than 100 positions from 456 dangerous professions prohibited for women. Women were allowed to work as drivers of dump trucks, KamAZ trucks and trucks, tractor drivers, sailors, skippers and boatswains, as well as train drivers. Also, many professions in heavy industry and complex industries became available to them.
