The suspect in the attempted murder of her five-year-old son in Engels was intoxicated at the time of the incident. This was announced on February 12 by the Minister of Health of the Saratov Region Oleg Kostin on his Instagram page.
According to him, there was an incident “unprecedented and inhuman in terms of both morality and common sense.”
“As you can see, alcohol atrophies the feeling of motherhood and turns a person into a monster. It’s very scary!” – continued the head of the Ministry of Health of the Saratov region.
He thanked the paramedics and doctors of the Engels hospital who saved the boy’s life. The child will be transferred to a specialized hospital, where his treatment will continue.
The condition of the injured child is assessed by doctors as serious.
“It has now been established that the minor is being raised by a 29-year-old mother; in July 2020, the family moved to a permanent place of residence in the city of Engels,” the regional prosecutor’s office added.
The oversight body organized an audit, during which an assessment will be made of the implementation by the authorities of the prevention system of powers, as well as the fulfillment by the woman of her parental responsibilities.
As stated in the message on the website of the investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Saratov region, the child was hospitalized on the night of February 12 from an apartment in a multi-storey building on Poltavskaya Street in the city of Engels.
“A 5-year-old boy with multiple stab wounds on his body, including in the chest, abdomen and neck,” the investigators specified.
A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30 – p. “c” part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Attempted murder of a minor, obviously for the guilty person who is in a helpless state”). The police brought the 29-year-old mother of the child to the investigation department, she was detained.
