Taking medication can put a lot of stress on the body. Candidate of Medical Sciences, therapist Andrey Kondrakhin spoke about how to reduce a possible negative effect in a commentary on Sputnik radio on Saturday, February 12.
Seasonal fluctuations in a variety of SARS and new strains of coronavirus are forcing people to take more drugs to fight off infections. However, some of these drugs are toxic.
“When we get sick, we use drugs that are inherently toxic to the body, as they have certain chemical properties,” Kondrakhin said.
Antibiotics, for example, counteract the development of bacterial infections that occur against the background of viruses. At the same time, they can damage the beneficial intestinal microflora, says Kondrakhin.
“We use antibiotics to treat various bacterial infections that need to be stopped, but at the same time beneficial microorganisms that live in the intestines and in other organs are affected,” he said.
According to the expert, in addition to taking medications, it is necessary to drink plenty of fluids, refuse heavy foods, eat right and take drugs that protect the intestinal microflora.
“When we use various chemicals, the intestinal microflora suffers, and where possible, we need to cover it up. For example, if we prescribe an antibiotic, then we definitely give a probiotic in order to restore the number of microorganisms, to help lactobacilli cope with the disease. You can also enhance the microflora with dairy products, if there are no contraindications for them, ”concluded Kondrakhin.
Earlier, on January 29, Honored Doctor of Russia Mikhail Kagan said that if the temperature rises to 38 degrees with an omicron strain of coronavirus, it is worth taking antipyretics that you need to have in your home first aid kit. He called drugs based on paracetamol and ibuprofen the safest. With aspirin as an antipyretic, you need to be more careful, for children it is generally contraindicated for such a purpose, Kagan noted.
