Putin expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the actress Kiriyenko

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences and words of support to the family and friends of People’s Artist of the RSFSR Zinaida Kiriyenko. This is stated in a message on the Kremlin website on Saturday, February 12.

“Zinaida Mikhailovna Kiriyenko was a wonderful actress, endowed with a bright talent and sincere generosity,” the Russian leader noted.

According to Putin, the departure of the actress will be an irreparable loss for cinema and Russian culture.

“Zinaida Mikhailovna is no longer with us, but her creative legacy and unforgettable roles will remain forever. A good, bright memory of her will remain,” the head of state concluded.

Farewell to the People’s Artist of the RSFSR will take place on February 15 at 11:00 Moscow time at the Central House of Cinematographers in Moscow. She will be buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery.

Kiriyenko, who was hospitalized with a coronavirus infection on February 10, passed away on February 12 at the age of 89. Doctors diagnosed her with a stroke.

Zinaida Kirienko – People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1977) and laureate of the USSR State Prize (1979).

In 1958 she graduated from VGIK. In the same year, she began to play on large stages: the Moscow Drama Theater named after Alexander Pushkin, the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya and the Film Actor Theater Studio, where she worked for more than 30 years since 1961.

The actress gained all-Union fame after playing the role of Natalya in the film of her teacher Sergei Gerasimov “Quiet Don”. Kiriyenko is also known for her roles in the films “The Fate of a Man”, “Earthly Love”, “Love in Russian – 2” and many others.
