Not every headache is a migraine, since the latter is classified by certain diagnostic criteria and features. This was announced on the air of the “Ask Komarovsky” program, the release of which is available on the website of the TV channel “Ukraine”, said the doctor and TV presenter Yevgeny Komarovsky.
“Very often people say:”[У меня] I have a headache, it’s a migraine.” Migraine is a special type of headache. This disease has very specific diagnostic criteria, diagnostic signs,” Komarovsky noted, commenting on the myth about the equivalence of these two concepts on Friday, February 11.
A doctor may make a diagnosis of migraine when a person has specific symptoms. Among them, the TV presenter called the episodic repetition of headaches, their paroxysmal nature (the duration of the attack can be from 4 to 72 hours) and intensity.
“Pain may be accompanied by increased sensitivity to external stimuli: to some kind of smell, to bright light, to the fact that someone is talking loudly. Against the background of this pain, nausea and vomiting can occur, ”the doctor added.
Another sign of migraine is its primary form: this type of headache occurs on its own, without the influence of external factors such as illness or injury. However, only a specialist can establish the final diagnosis.
Previously, Komarovsky described the “fundamental” symptoms of Omicron, a strain of COVID-19. Among them, the doctor named severe sore throat and weakness.
Prior to this, pediatrician, doctor of medical sciences Sergey Tokarev said that with the disease “Omicron” – a strain of COVID-19, children under five years of age can develop laryngotracheitis, in which swelling of the larynx can occur. Prior to this, the allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok said that those who fell ill with the Omicron strain of coronavirus showed hyperesthesia – increased sensitivity of the body.
