The Vasileostrovskiy District Court of St. Petersburg considered the petition of the investigation to detain the CEO of Logicom, Ivan Makarchuk, who is one of the defendants in the so-called snow case. This was announced on February 12 by the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
“The court refused the investigation, considering the measure of restraint in the form of detention as excessive, and sent the suspect under house arrest until April 8,” the report says.
It is noted that the entrepreneur is suspected of fraud on an especially large scale.
For the other three defendants – Anna Orekhova, Dmitry Nesterenko and Alexei Veselovzorov – the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of a ban on certain actions for the entire period of the preliminary investigation. At the same time, until April 8, Veselovzorov cannot travel outside the city and communicate with participants in criminal proceedings, and Nesterenko, in addition, will be forbidden to leave the apartment.
According to investigators, all four suspects worked in the same company in different positions. The organization signed two government contracts with the Committee for the Improvement of St. Petersburg for the cleaning of Vasilyevsky Island. However, the contractors did not fulfill the terms of the contract and stole more than 1 million rubles from the city budget.
In December, residents of the city, dissatisfied with the pace of snow removal, sent more than 1,000 complaints to the duty service of the Committee for the Improvement of St. Petersburg. Specialists of the state administrative and technical inspection found over 130 violations. Later, a petition appeared on the Internet asking the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, to take personal control over the process of snow removal in St. Petersburg.
