In St. Petersburg, two members of a criminal gang were detained, who are suspected of involvement in a series of contract killings committed 25 years ago. This was reported on February 13 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
“At present, as a result of investigative actions and operational-search measures, investigators, together with employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. – the message says.
The investigators clarified that those detained as part of a criminal group could be involved in such crimes with the use of firearms as the murder of the vice-president of one of the public organizations in September 2001 near one of the houses on Bolshoy Prospekt of the Petrograd side, the murder in September 1997 near Sennaya square of a man who was related to criminal circles, an attempted murder in December 1996 on a businessman and his driver near one of the houses on Socialist Street, as well as the murder of a young woman in May 1999 on the territory of Ukraine.
At the moment, the issue of combining all criminal cases into one proceeding is being resolved. The investigation is ongoing.
On February 10, it became known that a local resident was awaiting trial in Khabarovsk on charges of a 25-year-old murder.
According to investigators, in September 1997, at the Mnogoryadov wholesale and retail market, a conflict broke out between two foreign citizens living in the city, during which one of them insulted the other. After that, the accused went to his opponent’s home and demanded an apology, but was refused. At the moment when the front door was already closing, the man shot his friend in the head and fled.
