Two-time Olympic champion in figure skating, three-time world champion Evgeni Plushenko congratulated Russian coach Tatyana Tarasova on her 75th birthday, calling her a great person and specialist. He told about this on February 13 to Izvestia journalists.
As the athlete noted, Tarasova “brought up many athletes and Olympic champions.”
“Tatyana Anatolyevna is our legend, so I sincerely congratulate her on her anniversary,” he said.
Olympic champion in ice dancing Natalya Bestemyanova said that it was Tarasova who invited her to dance with her partner Andrei Bulkin. If not for the coach, then the life of an athlete would have been different.
“And I am very grateful to her that from the first day I came to her, she believed that Andrei and I could win,” Bestemyanova emphasized.
As the skater admitted, it was strange for her that Tarasova could see something in the beginning pair. But the coach has the quality to find talent among people.
“People who did not foretell anything become champions in her hands. This is the talent of a great genius coach. I really wish her good health, so that she rises, so that we all enjoy her sparkling comments and that her life becomes better, ”she concluded.
Tatyana Tarasova is a Soviet and Russian figure skating coach, International Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR.
She managed to prepare over 40 world and European champions. 10 of them also won Olympic gold medals.
In 2008, she was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
