The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case after a resident of Sredneuralsk (Sverdlovsk region) shot his seriously ill wife with a hunting rifle.
The body of the deceased was sent for examination. As the main version, a domestic conflict is considered against the background of alcohol abuse, the regional Investigative Committee specified.
Earlier, the head of the press service of the regional head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valery Gorelykh, said that the shooting had become known from a friend of the detainee. The microdistrict where it all happened was cordoned off by about 60 policemen. For two hours they negotiated with the suspect, after which he surrendered without resistance.
“During the inspection of the crime scene, it became clear that the man fired two shots: one at his wife and one more at the closet. The body of the deceased was covered with a blanket, and on it lay a bouquet of flowers. For a long time the woman was seriously ill. In a conversation with acquaintances earlier, the man repeatedly said that he was tired of all this, ”said Gorelykh.
According to preliminary data, he fired from a registered five-shot hunting rifle MTs-2112. He was taken to the police in a state of extreme intoxication.
Gorelykh also added that the information that the man opened fire on passers-by from the window is false.
