The second criminal case was opened after a fire in a house near Ivanovo

A criminal case of negligence has been opened on the fact of a fire that occurred in a private house in Yuryevets (Ivanovo region), as a result of which four children and their mother died. This was announced on Sunday, February 13, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.

The fire broke out in the city earlier that day. The fire area was 50 square meters. m. Two girls and two boys under the age of 10 died. A case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence to two or more persons”).

“The materials of the prosecutor’s check were sent to the investigating authorities to resolve the issue of initiating a criminal case on the grounds of Part 3 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Negligence resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence”). Based on the results of consideration of the prosecutor’s decision, a criminal case was initiated,” the statement says.

During the audit, it was also found that the guardianship and guardianship authorities, as well as the police, did not take the necessary measures to protect the rights of children.

At the same time, according to the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region, the prevention system did not ensure the timely removal from the family of minors who were in a socially dangerous situation for life and health.

At the moment, the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, put under control the investigation into the death of four children and their mother in a fire. The course of the investigation was put under control in the central office of the Investigative Committee, the press service added.
