Meat is digested for a long time by the body, so it must be combined with other products correctly. Otherwise, you can harm your health if, for example, mix meat with pasta, potatoes, bread and cereals – foods rich in carbohydrates. This was announced on Sunday, February 13, in an interview with Lenta.ru by dietitian Elena Solomatina.
As the expert notes, such combinations can contribute to intoxication and flatulence. Carbohydrates are digested quickly, but when they enter the stomach along with meat, they begin to ferment.
“The meat will lie in the stomach for a long time until it is well treated with hydrochloric acid. So we ate a piece of meat, threw pasta, and on top of something else sweet – a piece of cake or cupcake. Pasta cannot go further to be digested, the cupcake lies on top – the processes of fermentation, intoxication begin, a number of our beneficial flora die, which means that the activity of our immune system decreases with all the consequences. Any intoxication leads to nausea, a decrease in many functions of our body, and here we ourselves arrange intoxication for our body, ”said the nutritionist.
To avoid harmful consequences for the body and health problems, Solomatina advised eating meat not with carbohydrates, but with vegetables. Mashed potatoes are perfect for fish, and the body will digest bread with soup faster than with meat. Porridge or cottage cheese should be consumed with berries, and scrambled eggs with vegetables. Potatoes, especially when cold, also go well with vegetables, for example, in a salad, since in this form they will not be deposited in fat, the doctor summed up.
Earlier, Solomatina spoke about the diet to combat beriberi. According to the nutritionist, with insufficient sunlight, improper nutrition, or post-COVID syndrome, the body can get tired. To combat weakness and bad mood, vitamin C is needed, Solomatina notes. In the winter season, it is better to eat frozen fruits, as those that are in the store do not contain nutrients.
