The World Nutrition Day is celebrated every May 28. According to WHO, it is a date aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and raising awareness about the importance of good nutrition. However, how does this “celebration” live in the territories where food is scarce, where drinking water remains a privilege and living conditions are of extreme vulnerability?

In Pata Pila, we believe that it is also a time to act. Because as long as there are boys and girls who cannot feed dignity, we cannot settle for just reflecting. Every day of nutrition reminds us that there is a lot to do and that together we can build a more fair and full of opportunities for all.

Our vision is clear, work so that each child and every family can live with health and dignity, without food being a luxury. In the North Argentino, malnutrition remains part of daily reality. We know it because in the last decade we relieve more than 10,000 boys and girls in northern Salta, and almost 30% had some degree of malnutrition or malnutrition.
Our work is to promote comprehensive child nutrition programs, Montessori spaces for early childhood, training in mothers, access to water and permanent territorial accompaniment. Because reverting malnutrition is not just a medical or welfare task, it is a deeply human mission, which demands presence, listening and commitment.
The impact of our comprehensive program is reflected in concrete results. We managed to reduce moderate and severe malnutrition and malnutrition rates by 40% in the communities where we work. Through more than 78,000 professional interventions, critical cases were reversed, international mortality and infant mortality rates were reduced. Currently, we serve in our program 1,400 children in a situation of nutritional vulnerability.
Therefore, this nutrition day we take as a reminder of everything that remains to be done. Because as long as there are boys and girls without guaranteeing their right to dignified food, there is nothing to celebrate. But much to transform.
In Pata Pila, we know that every step in the territory changes lives. We make it possible thanks to the conviction of a committed team and the support of those who believe in this cause. Because the day of nutrition is not just a call to eat better, it is a date to reflect and take action, remembering that even in the 21st century there are entire children and families who have nothing to eat.
