The tourism industry noted the return of sales of tours to the dock level

Tourist industry experts expect a significant increase in travel demand in 2022 – the depth of sales of tours abroad has already reached autumn, Izvestia learned.

This year promises to be successful for tourism: Russia has already restored full-scale air service with eight countries – moreover, the list includes such popular destinations as Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Dmitry Gorin told Izvestia .

“We expect a significant increase in the flow of tourists abroad, which is confirmed by the depth of sales of tours, which has already reached the level of 2019. So, trips to Turkey are booked 150-190 days in advance – until autumn, and this is a very good depth. This was not the case in 2021. Interest in early booking is also associated with the instability of the ruble: it is easier to pay for the trip now and protect yourself from price increases immediately before the rest, ”the expert said.

In his opinion, the outbound tourist flow from Russia in 2022 can recover up to 80% compared to 2019. At the same time, travel to Turkey will reach the pre-pandemic volume.

“As for domestic tourism, here the forecast is even more favorable – we will definitely reach the level of 2019 and even exceed it by 10-15 percent. Therefore, many, although not all, Russians will go on vacation this year, which they missed a year ago,” Dmitry Gorin is sure.

An important factor in the recovery of the tourism industry in 2022 will be deferred demand, experts say. So, in 2021, 27.3% of Russians refused to travel, although they usually spend their holidays on tours – such an estimate is given in a study by the Institute of State and Municipal Administration of the Higher School of Economics.
