Pyrotechnicians of the Sevastopol Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia removed from the place of detection and defused a bomb of the times of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) weighing 50 kg. This was reported on February 16 in the regional department.
“In compliance with all the necessary safety rules, an explosive object was loaded on board a special vehicle and delivered to a special range, where the bomb was eliminated by controlled detonation,” the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Sevastopol reported.
According to the ministry, 156 people and 41 pieces of equipment participated in the operation.
An explosive object, identified as a German SC-50 aerial bomb, was discovered the day before, on February 15, in the Balaklavsky district near Lukomskaya street.
The danger zone, which included residential and country houses, was cordoned off. Before the end of the operation, people were evacuated to a temporary accommodation facility.
Earlier, on August 30, it was reported that three bombs from the Great Patriotic War were discovered and destroyed in Crimea. Ammunition, which is more than 70 years old, was found in Kerch. The pyrotechnicians loaded them into special vehicles and took them to the Bagerovsky training ground for destruction.
On August 10, it was reported that in the Kaliningrad region, two children were injured as a result of an explosion of a World War II shell in a forest area where two families had come for a picnic. While building a fire, a projectile detonated.
