The Ministry of Defense announced the return of units of the Southern Military District from exercises in the Crimea

Units of the Southern Military District (SMD) are returning to their deployment points from exercises in the Crimea. This was announced on Wednesday, February 16, by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The units of the Southern Military District, which have completed their participation in tactical exercises at the training grounds of the Crimean Peninsula, are marching to their permanent deployment points by rail. The personnel of the unit loaded armored vehicles on caterpillar tracks – tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery mounts onto railway platforms at loading stations.

It is specified that military equipment and the driver’s staff of the units will be delivered by rail to the regions of permanent deployment of military units, including the republics of Dagestan and North Ossetia-Alania.

Reinforced companies of battalion tactical groups of combined arms formations of the Southern Military District were involved in tactical exercises. The exercises were conducted on the territory of 15 training grounds in the area of ​​responsibility of the district.

Yesterday, February 15, the military forces of the Southern and Western military districts of the Russian Federation began to return from the joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus “Allied Resolve – 2022”.

On February 12, the consolidated divisions of artillerymen, as part of maneuvers during the drawing of a tactical episode, struck at the positions of a mock enemy. The exercises were held at the Osipovichsky training ground in the Mogilev region of Belarus. The military also trained the change of combat positions. Live firing as part of the exercises will also take place on February 19 at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground.

The exercises are arranged for the qualitative development of tasks “to suppress and repel external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, as well as to counter terrorism and protect the interests of the Union State.
