Minister of Machine-Tool and Tool Industry of the USSR, former First Deputy Minister of the Rocket and Space Industry of the Soviet Union Boris Balmont died at the age of 94. This was announced on Wednesday, February 16, by Roskosmos.
“Over the years of his work, with his direct participation, cosmonautics has made significant steps forward, many projects that we are proud of have become possible, including thanks to Boris Vladimirovich,” the message says.
The state corporation expressed condolences to the families and friends of the ex-deputy minister.
“Not only the rocket and space industry, but the whole country suffers an irreparable loss when such people leave,” Roscosmos noted.
Boris Balmont was born in 1927. He was awarded the Order of Honor of Russia, was a laureate of state prizes of the USSR and the Russian Federation, holder of four Orders of Lenin, Hero of Socialist Labor, honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics. K.E. Tsiolkovsky.
