Only logical
From Islamist preachers to the right -wing extremist agitation: They have all found them – often a minor – audience on social media. We currently leave children and adolescents more or less on the net with democracy and hope for the best – “will be beautiful”.
The danger potential is evident, an age limit. We have restricted access to alcohol, films or tobacco for minors for minors. An expansion to social media is long overdue in view of the legal -free playgrounds that are full of disinformation and hatred.
The politicians are now called up to find a solution for the next generation.

Illogical
The call for stricter regulations often follows according to tragic events. But not every proposal also withstands reality testing. The demand to allow social media from the age of 15 is an example. On the one hand, he fails to recognize already applicable regulations: WhatsApp and Instagram are only allowed from the age of 13 anyway – only nobody sticks to it.
On the other hand, the proposal fails to recognize social reality: social media are an integral part of their everyday life for young people. Instead of screwing up age limits, the children should be given a safe handling of social media and the providers are obliged to strict compliance with their existing regulations.
