Unemployment, Industry and Revolution 5.0: A compass for lost work

Unemployment, Industry and Revolution 5.0: A compass for lost work

The figures do not lie or negotiate: Unemployment in Argentina reached 7.9% In the first quarter of this year, (my vision and analysis puts it by 10%) marking a record so far in the management of Javier Milei. Unemployment is breathed in each block, at each family table and in each trade that lowers its blinds before the indicated time.

This index naked the fragility of an economic model that, between draconian adjustments and slogans of misunderstood freedom, forgets its reason for being: The work dignifies and, without work, the Republic wobbles. Freedom without employment is the heaviest chain that can drag a society.

As a lawyer specializing in work and employment, RECORTO SMEs, premises, workshops and industrial plants. I listen to it in a low voice, almost like a shameful confession: Juan, we cannot continue exporting … we cannot pay the labor costs, the bureaucracy and the lack of credit of the banks … ”.

The data is overwhelming: 11% of Argentine companies stopped exporting. The industrial muscle atrophy when the state becomes a mere spectator of the adjustment. Without industry there is no value chain; Without value chain, there is no quality employment; Without employment, there is hopelessness. This drop in exports is a red alert. It is not just a trade balance problem: it is a productive identity problem. Argentina cannot afford to be an economy of weak and depressed consumption services; It needs live, innovative and competitive industries.

Let me be clear and brutal: do not fear artificial intelligence; They fear incompetence to manage it. AI does not destroy jobs, destroys the obsolete way of understanding them. The Revolution 5.0which I speak so much in conferences and forums, it is not science fiction: it is a salvation table for Argentine productive and labor fabric. While the 4.0 revolution automated routine tasks, the 5.0 returns the prominence to the human, but enhanced by the machine. It is the increased worker, not replaced: the operator that supervises robots, the administrative who delegates bureaucracy to algorithms, the small entrepreneur who predicts markets with generative.

In my experience advising companies and unions, I see clearly that whoever clings to working methods two decades ago dies. But who embraces the AI, adapts it to its scale and trains its people, survives and grows.

Of the protest to the proposals

The dilemma is simple: cry statistics or design real work policies. The recipe is not new, but we forget between speeches and cracks:

  • Form for revolution 5.0: massive, free and sectoral training. The worker should not be a Spectator of the AI; It must be your driver.

  • Accessible productive credit: SME does not need eternal subsidies; You need capital to innovate, export and pay good salaries.

  • Modernize labor legislation: Adapt and modify the agreements, expedite procedures, protect rights from both parties without stopping innovation. Neither Labor Anarchy nor Trade Union Museum.

  • Smart state: The State must be a referee, no bar brava. Encourage exports, lower obstacles and reward the generation of formal employment of the private sector that is the one who generates it.

To entrepreneurs, employers, entrepreneurs, serial risk of production and employment: they are not afraid of AI, they are afraid of being still. Competing with high costs is suicidal if they also compete with low productivity. The machine does not say goodbye to people: it dismisses inertia and mediocrity.

To the dependents, those who do not want to risk: the formation is power. They embrace the training, they demand reconversion, do not fear reinventing themselves. Who forms, commands; Who does not obey.

I am not illusory: I know that the Macroeconomy drown, that taxes bite and that the conflict stalks. But I know, for each employer I advise, for each union that I listen, that hope is built with hands and brains aligned to a country strategy.

There will be no productive revolution if there is no mental revolution. The mental revolution comes from the hand of revolution 5.0, and it is our opportunity to own the algorithm, not slaves of adjustment. To export innovation, not to import poverty.

Today the numbers are alarming. Unemployment grows, the industry retracts, export goes out. But the wind changes. There is no crisis that supports the thrust of an educated, formed and convinced society of its potential.

Who does not understand it, to row in the tail of unemployment. Who embraces him, to prepare to direct the new labor economy.
