The police have been performing on the Internet in a nationwide campaign against alleged authors of hatred and agitation in a nationwide campaign. According to dpa information, there should be more than 170 missions. Among other things, the accused is accused of incitement and insulting politicians. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is responsible. The day of action has been taking place regularly for several years.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) said about the campaign on DPA request: “Digital arsonists must not be able to hide behind their cell phones or computers.” In Reuls Land, 14 of the around 130 procedures nationwide are conducted, which are involved in the action day to combat hate postings.
Most of the procedures for radical right -wing statements
The focus of the investigation in the countries is on right -wing radical statements on the Internet. It is often also about punishable insults against politicians, in fewer cases about extremist religious postings or left -wing radical postings.
Numerous police authorities are involved in North Rhine-Westphalia alone: Officials from Bielefeld, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Cologne and Münster struck DPA information at 6:00 a.m. Two searches of searches are to be executed in NRW, a total of 14 suspects are to be heard.
The alleged perpetrators have mostly expressed themselves publicly on social media. A suspect is said to have written on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter): “” Heil Hitler !! Again. We are German and a successful nation. Male foreigners out. “
Reul: Many have forgotten a difference between hatred and opinion
“Many people have forgotten the difference between hate and opinion,” said NRW Interior Minister Reul to the dpa. “It is so easy: what you don’t do in the real world does not belong digitally. It is time, for more attitude, offline like online.”
The BKA has been regularly taking action days against hate crime on the Internet for several years. As the authority announced in May, 10,732 crimes in connection with so -called “hate postings” were recorded last year – an increase of around 34 percent compared to 2023. Compared to 2021, the numbers even quadrupled.
According to BKA, the agitation actually increases on the one hand, on the other hand, the central registration office for criminal content on the Internet (ZMI) is also uncovered more and more punishable content.
