Because of his “dirty work” statement, Chancellor Merz had to take a lot of criticism. Even his vice of Klingbeil does not like the word.
Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil would not use the word “dirty work” used by Chancellor Friedrich Merz for Israel’s struggle against Iran. When asked whether Merz (CDU) also spoke for Klingbeil when he said that Israel did the dirty work for everyone, the SPD boss replied in the ARD talk show “Maischberger”: “No, that’s not my choice of words.”
But he added that Iran, who has repeatedly denied Israel’s right to exist for years, is working on a nuclear program. “And I want to tell you very clearly that every situation in which Iran is thrown back is an important step in this nuclear program,” said Klingbeil. It is not clear whether the military actions of the past few days were successful. “But first, I think you have to say, it is right if Iran cannot make nuclear weapons.”
In the event of “dirty work”, but otherwise united
Behind the Chancellor, however, Klingbeil opposes the assessment that it would be good if the regime could change in Iran. “Of course it is right if this regime is over,” said Klingbeil. “Only I don’t know if you can bring about a change of regime with military means. I actually have the conviction that something like this always has to happen from the country itself.”
Merz had to take a lot of criticism when he said in mid -June that Israel in war with Iran is currently doing “the dirty work” for the West.
