In the future, the mother’s pension should be uniformly regulated for all mothers, regardless of the year of birth of the children. But it still takes before the money with those affected.
The extended mother’s pension will only be paid out from 2028. A spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Labor told the German Press Agency that the pension insurance, according to its own statement, requires the technical implementation two years after the law was announced. “This means that the service is only possible from 2028.”
In their coalition agreement, the Union and the SPD have agreed to regulate the mother’s pension uniformly for all mothers. It should apply to everyone with three pension points, regardless of the year of birth of the children. The money for this should come from the tax fund. So far, educational times for children born before 1992 are less credited to the pension account.
The “world” and “Business Insider” had already reported, citing the key values of financial planning, that the payment should not start until 2028. The black and red government for the first time provides for additional expenses for the mother’s pension of five billion euros for 2028. The same amount is entered for 2029. A spokesman for Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) confirmed this planning to the media.
“The implementation of the mother’s pension III is part of the Federal Government’s instant program decided on May 28, 2025 and is to be launched quickly,” said the spokeswoman for Labor Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD). The pension insurance had already dampened expectations that the agreed expansion of the mother’s pension could be realized quickly: In order to find out who gets more pension, the database would have to be researched with all 26 million pensions.
