The ceasefire between Iran and Israel seems to keep. People in Tehran are relieved by the end of the attacks in the metropolis. But there are also tones of disappointment.
After many sleepless nights, the people in Tehran spread over a temporary end to the fights. But with the attacks, which also targeted the much criticized leadership of Iran, many also combined hope for change. This now seems disappointed.
The retired teacher Sudabeh says, for example: “The Islamic regime was a nightmare, but the Israeli attack was the end of the world. I am glad that I am at least in this nightmare and can sleep again without being awakened by rockets.”
The 47-year-old real estate agent Jahangir had hoped that “the attacks would also bear fruit” and alludes to an end to the rule of the Islamic clergymen. “But it seems that the world and even this (US President Donald) Trump prefer a weak Iran to a free Iran.”
The 23-year-old student Mina says: “It was the best chance for everyone to get rid of this past regime, but they only weakened it and people will suffer from the economic consequences again.”
Katajun, also a student, expresses her disappointment about the Iranian opposition abroad. This showed a “weak performance”. She is “over there” (in the West) and asked the Iranians to “take to the street and to fight the regime while Israel bombies (…) No wonder that the regime does not take it seriously (…) From now on we do not take it seriously”.
State -organized celebration after the ceasefire was announced
Government advocates had come together for a state -organized celebration on Tuesday evening after the ceasefire in Tehran was announced in order to express their recognition to the armed forces. This reported several Iranian news agencies. During the demonstration, Iranian national flags and banner were swiveled with slogans, which express the support of the political leadership in Tehran.
Many Tehrans had left the city out of worry – to the north to the Caspian Sea, in smaller cities in the country or towards the borders. Many supermarkets were almost empty, if not closed. There were water and power failures. Most authorities are also closed. A large wave of return has nevertheless failed to do.
