CNN moderator counters criticism by Donald Trump with a clear statement

Donald Trump cannot handle critical reporting well. According to a CNN report, he insulted the broadcaster Wüst-the well-known moderator Jake Tapper contradicts.

What about the Iranian nuclear program? At the moment, hardly anyone can answer this question really seriously. Nevertheless, an answer is violent in the United States. The US president did not want to leave a secret service report that the nuclear facilities were less damaged by the attacks of the United States and Israel than stated by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Instead, Trump attacked the television station CNN, which had reported on the secret service knowledge. On his Truth Social Platform, he described the reports as “fake news” and accused the broadcaster of working against him: “CNN tries to be bad.” Trump had even called for a reporter to be discharged.

The renowned TV station could not let this criticism sit on this criticism. The well -known moderator Jake Tapper, most recently through his book on Joe Biden’s health during the election campaign in the headlines, contradicted the president in a committed counter -speech – live on television.

CNN moderator Jake Tapper: “It is not our duty to praise Donald Trump”

Trump and his government wanted to punish the bearer of bad news, the journalist said: “They call true stories ‘fake news’. They demand that an excellent CNN reporter should be fired. This is absurd.” The task of journalists is to critically question the powerful instead of simply believing them. The moderator particularly pointed out that nobody in the government denied the existence of the report.

“Our obligation as journalists are not to praise President Trump, protect his feelings or disparage him. Our task is to report on facts,” said Tapper. Trump had described the reporting as “unpatriotic” and accused the media of reducing the work of the US combat pilots.

Tapper countered this: “The story taught us that the greatest service to our soldiers is to ask questions to our leaders, especially in times of war. For journalists, this is the highest form of patriotism.”

Unclear about the condition of the nuclear facilities in Iran

At the same time, the moderator emphasized that the report was only an initial assessment of the military secret service DIA. Accordingly, Iran’s US bombardment could not completely destroy underground nuclear systems. Trump, on the other hand, speaks of a “total extinction” and even compared the attack to the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth said.

According to its previous knowledge, the CIA supports the government’s statements. The reconstruction of the destroyed nuclear facilities would take “years”, explained CIA boss John Ratcliffe. The Iranian nuclear program, on the other hand, only sees the Iranian nuclear program thrown back by a few months.

The feud between Donald Trump and the critical US media continues. After the statement by Jake Tapper, the President wrote on Truth Social: “Fake News CNN is so disgusting and arrogant. Some of the stupidest moderators in the industry.”
