Sharper right of weapons for new compressed air revolvers

A new revolver that shoots steel needles with compressed air is worried to the security authorities. That is why the Bundestag has now decided stricter rules.

Because of the danger of a newly developed needle revolver, the Bundestag has tightened weapons law. With the legislative change adopted late in the evening, state permit is required to own this compressed air weapon. Without the short -term permission of permission, the needle revolver would have been freely for sale.

Before coordination in parliament, police officers in the Ministry of the Interior demonstrated the dangers of the revolver. The test, in which the long needles entered a soap block and a protective vest, clearly shows which potential dangers from this weapon went out, said Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU). He sees “no possibility” that someone can receive approval for the use of this revolver.

Due to new developments in weapon technology, it is possible to shoot floats from compressed air weapons that shot a kinetic energy of no more than 7.5 joules, from whom a potentially fatal effect could be used, it was said by the Ministry of the Interior.

Question about the “need” for possession of the weapon

Anyone who wants to have a weapon subject to permission in Germany needs approval. The responsible authorities examine the gun owners for their reliability, expertise and their “personal suitability”. Gun owners must also demonstrate that they have a “need” to have a weapon – for example, to go hunting or because they are active as sports shooters. A small weapon license entitles you to carry fright, irritant and signal weapons in public.

Minister Dobrindt also showed the effects of so -called taser, with which he would like to equip the federal police soon. This requires a legal change that is currently being discussed within the federal government.

Household funds for Taser are already approved

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, 2,000 of these distance electro pulse devices are to be purchased this year. The devices are controversial. From the perspective of the federal police, they close “the gap between the firearm and tray”. Among other things, Lower Saxony’s Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) had formulated doubts as to whether the use of other devices such as Taser makes sense. The party Die Linke also critically commented on the project.

The union of the police (GdP) is in favor of a nationwide commitment. However, this is not a panacea, said its federal chairman, Jochen Kopelke. Often it is sufficient to threaten with the device. Nevertheless, there are always situations in which a distance electro pulse device and a firearm are used.
