So far, the sanctions of the West have not forced Russia to negotiate about the end of the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin explains what supposedly help instead of pressure.
According to Kremnlangen, the EU’s planned 18th sanction package will not lead to the end of the Russian attack war against Ukraine. “Only logic and arguments can bring Russia to the negotiating table,” Kremllorger Dmitri Peskow told Moscow state television. “It is impossible to push Russia through any kind of pressure or violence.”
Peskow was convinced that the new sanction package is ultimately accepted by the EU. But the sharper the punitive measures, the stronger the recoil. Sanctions are a “double -edged weapon,” said Peskow. Moscow repeatedly claims that the EU, for example, had even more disadvantages through the sanctions due to the absence of Russian raw materials.
Last Friday, the EU’s 18th sanction package initially failed due to the resistance of Slovakia. A new vote was postponed at an indefinite time.
Russia think the sanctions are illegal, said Peskow. “Obviously we have a certain resistance after almost four years. And we have already learned how we can minimize the effects of such packages,” he said.
The EU’s sanctions are primarily directed against the Russian economy and have the goal of taking the country the financial means for continuing the war of aggression against Ukraine. Russia, on the other hand, repeatedly emphasizes that he has adapted its economy to the punishment. In addition, the raw material power deals with the help of other countries and, despite everything, has massively expanded its arms production.
