On the table, ham and sausage slices are stacked, flanked by cheese, juicy red tomato slices, scrambled eggs and freshly baked rolls. Men and women gathered around the lovingly covered breakfast board, between 50 and early 70. You enjoy your coffee, smoke cigarettes and cheats. A bitch scurries back and forth between table and human legs.

Flying flies through the warm air, in the background a stork rattles in his nest. The sky is cloudless here in Lozen, a village in the Bulgarian province, almost 400 inhabitants. The temperatures should climb to 30 degrees that day.

The breakfast pensioners are in a good mood, they are not on vacation here. The Balkanland was its last resort. Life in Germany has become too expensive for them, the pension was just enough to survive at home.
