At least 50 arrests at Istanbuler Pride-Parade

Meetings such as the Pride Parade have been prohibited in Turkey for years. This time, too, the police block down the city center to prevent rallies.
In Istanbul, at least 50 people were arrested on a Pride parade. Among them are four lawyers, the Turkish Lawyers’ Association CHD said on the X platform. They accused the police brutal action against the activists who were on the street for the rights of lesbian, gays, bisexuals, trans- and queer people (LGBTQ). Those arrested should be heard today.
Events such as the Pride parade have been prohibited in Turkey for years. This year, too, the governor Istanbuls, Davut Gül, had written in advance of the assembly planned for Sunday on the platform X, demonstration calls from “marginalized groups” were directed against the “social peace, the family structure and moral values” and would not be approved. The center in the European part of the metropolis was cordoned off in a large scale, several metro stations were closed.
