Russia has been a brutal war of conquest in Ukraine for more than three years. According to a regional manager, Moscow has now reached an important milestone.
According to the occupation authorities, Russia has fully conquered the Luhansk East Ukrainian region. The report on the complete conquest came two days ago, said the governor of the region, Leonid Passetschnik used by Moscow, on Russian state television. So far there is no confirmation from Kyiv.
The Ministry of Defense in Moscow has not yet reported the full line -up of the Luhansk area. In the past, the official confirmation from Moscow usually came shortly after the success reports of the local occupation authorities.
Ukrainian strongly under pressure
The eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk had already reached the control of the separatists supported by Moscow in 2014. In the event of an outbreak of war, the Russians managed to conquer the majority of the region within a few months. During their counter -offensive in autumn 2022, the Ukrainians were able to recapture some areas in the north of Luhansk. Finally, however, they only kept a territory of a few square kilometers.
In addition to the Crimea, which was annexed in 2014, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin completely claims the Ukrainian areas of Luhansk, Donetsk, Saporischschja and Cherson as Russian territory.
