Putin began meetings to prepare a message to the Federal Assembly

On Thursday, February 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he was starting a series of meetings to prepare a message to the Federal Assembly.

“This is a large, comprehensive and thorough work, in which a number of important issues must be taken into account,” the Russian leader said on Thursday at a meeting on economic issues.

He stressed that this is a joint work of the president and a number of departments.

“The President announces the decisions that we are preparing, says what and how to do to achieve the set goals, but this is our joint task,” Putin said.

The meeting began with the proposal of the head of state to analyze the overall macroeconomic picture and the forecast of economic dynamics for the next three years.

On January 21, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin could address the Federal Assembly later than previously planned. According to the press secretary, there is no direct connection between the format and date of the message of the President of the Russian Federation, as well as the epidemiological situation in the country.

Peskov also noted that the conceptual preparation of the text of the message began in December, and its announcement will take place at the beginning of the year. According to him, it is necessary to substantively “work on the basis of the text.”

In his last address to the Federal Assembly, announced on April 21, 2021, Putin focused on social issues, proposing many measures to support Russian families with children.

Also in his speech, the head of state touched upon various topics related to the internal structure of the country, as well as its international policy. He touched upon the issue of the economic well-being of the state, outlining further strategic plans for the development of Russia. The appeal to the Federal Assembly lasted 78 minutes.
