5000 prisoners, guarded by alligators: Donald Trump personally examined the controversial deportation prison “Alligator Alcatraz” in the swamps of Florida.
They are depressing pictures and that should also be: In order to demonstrate hardness against immigrants, US President Donald Trump personally inspected a new deportation prison in Florida. Up to 5000 people are to be locked up on a former airfield in the complex, known as the “Alligator Alcatraz”.
In contrast to the famous prison island of Alcatraz, the prisoners are not surrounded by water, but from the swamps of the Everglades, in which crocodiles and alligators live. The domestic reptiles described Trump as inexpensive police officers, but in fact fences and barbed wire are likely to make the outbreak more difficult.
Trump was accompanied during his visit by US Minister of Housekeeping Kristi Noem and Florida’s governor Ron de Santis, on whose initiative the construction of the tent prison is declining. The Trump government has been trying to show maximum hardness against illegal immigrants since its start and always relies on martial pictures.
