At the highest German court, three judge positions are to be filled. A two -thirds majority in the Bundestag with the help of the opposition is necessary. But black and red seems to be dessible.

Before the election of a new constitutional judge next week, dispute is becoming a dispute in the black and red coalition. In the Union, the Jura professor Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf nominated by the SPD meets resistances, reported the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” and “Bild”. The lawyer was “unmistakable”, wrote the CDU member of the Bundestag Saskia Ludwig on the X. Ludwig platform confirmed her attitude to the DPA request and referred to Corona vaccinations.

“FAZ” and “BILD” referred to several unused Union politicians. “The personnel can never be selected for us,” the “FAZ” quotes a non -mentioned MP from the legal committee. Another CDU parliamentarian who also did not want to be named, said: “It cannot be that the Union chooses an ultra-left lawyer to the constitutional court.” The attitude of the lawyer to abortions is therefore also controversial.

Two -thirds majority necessary

Politically lies in the argument for the coalition. Three positions at the highest German court are to be filled. According to the previously usual nominating process, the Union has named a candidate – the Federal Labor judge Günter Spinner – and the SPD two: According to media reports, the Jura professor Ann -Katrin Kaufhold, alongside Brosius -Gersdorf.

The candidates require confirmation from the Bundestag with a two -thirds majority. Not only the voices of the Union and the SPD are needed for this, but also those of the Greens and Leftists, if the coalition does not want to rely on the AfD.

Left-wing politician Reichinnek: “Unbelievable mud battle”

DIE LINKE has linked its support of the choice in terms of conditions. “For us, a joint choice is only possible if discussions have taken place beforehand – both about the suggestions and the further procedure,” said parliamentary group leader Heidi Reichinnek of the German Press Agency. “The fact that the Union does not want to see this reveals a more than questionable understanding of democracy.”

Reichinnek called the Union resistance against the SPD nominated an “unworthy mud fight”. “Individual MPs can be quoted anonymously, attack the proposed people and clearly say that they will not vote,” Reichinnk complained. As the candidates are publicly dismantled by the Union, Parliament and the Constitutional Court were unworthy.

Judge election planned for next week

The judge’s election committee meets according to Reichinnek’s words on Monday evening, the coordination in the plenum is also intended for next week. The successor of the constitutional judge Josef Christ, who has reached the age limit and is only in office, is to be regulated primarily. Spinner is under discussion for his position. Half of the 16 judges of the Federal Constitutional Court are usually elected by the Bundestag and the Federal Council.
