In a phone call with US President Trump, Kremlin chief Putin shows willingness to negotiate Ukraine. However, he remains adamant in his war goals.
According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin fundamentally called for a diplomatic solution to conflicts on the phone call with US President Donald Trump. “He has declared the willingness of the Russian side to continue the negotiating process (with Ukraine),” said Putin’s foreign policy advisor Juri Uschakow after the almost one -hour conversation. Moscow will not move away from his goals to eliminate the cause of the conflict.
Russia began war against its neighboring country more than three years ago on the grounds that NATO accession to Ukraine endangers its own national security and that Moscow had to protect the Russian-speaking minority in the neighboring country. In addition, Russia now places demands on several areas in Eastern and South Ukraine.
According to Uschakow, the phone call in addition to Ukraine also dealt with the war in the Middle East. The conversation was constructive, both state leaders were “on a wave”. The continuation of the dialogue has been agreed, said the Putin confidant.
It was only on Tuesday that the United States had stopped the delivery of some weapons to Ukraine. The Pentagon has now confirmed this, but did not give any details. According to US media, it is about certain rockets and ammunition. The Ministry of Defense said that the United States was to check its own skills – and had also stopped help for other countries. Ministry spokesman Sean Parnell also emphasized that the American armed forces had everything to carry out every mission in the world.
