Germany’s highest mountain is located in the constituency of Alexander Dobrindt. There he would like to talk to internal ministers from five neighboring countries about asylum policy in two weeks.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has invited countermeasures from several neighboring countries to talk about European migration policy on the Zugspitze. The planned meeting on July 18 will be about the “reorganization of European migration policy”, said a spokeswoman for the ministry.
In addition to the inner ministers of France, Poland, Austria, Denmark and the Czech Republic, the EU Commissioner for the Interior and Migration, Magnus Brunner, is also invited. The aim is to “jointly give important impulses for a harder European migration policy”.
Politico and the “Handelsblatt” had previously reported on the planned meeting. According to reports, the fight against smuggling crime and deportations should also be spoken of.
Relaxies in the European asylum system?
Even before the Bundestag election, a possible tightening of the agreed new rules of the common European asylum system (GEAS) had been discussed at the European level. Specifically, it is about deleting the so -called connection element from the regulations. So far, the GEAS reform stipulates that asylum seekers cannot be deported to third countries to which they have no concrete reference. Member States should implement the reform by mid -2026.
