Since the beginning of the Gaza War, the Yemeni Huthi-Miliz Israel has repeatedly attacked rockets and drones. Israel’s army is now striking back – and warns.
Israel’s Air Force has bombed military facilities of the Huthi militia allied with Iran in Yemen. Air Force and Navy attacked “terrorist infrastructure” of the pro-Iranian rebels in the ports of Hodeida, Ras Isa and Salif, as the Israeli army announced at night. The ports would be used by the Huthi to transport weapons from Iran for terrorist operations against Israel and its allies.
The tel-Masirah television station controlled by the Huthis also reported on the Israeli attacks in Hodeida, Ras Isa, Salif and Ras al-Kathib.
Israel’s Minister of Defense warns Huthi
The “Galaxy Leader” merchant ship, which was hijacked by the Huthi in November 2023, was also hit in Ras Issa. The militia installed a radar system on the ship to pursue ships in international maritime traffic for terrorist attacks. According to their own statements, the Huthis had captured the crew for a year and released in the Gaza Strip in January of this year during the ceasefire between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas.
The Ras Kanatib power plant near the capital Sanaa was also attacked, the army continued to say on Telegram.
Before Hodeida, the rebels had attacked a merchant ship on Sunday, as the British authority for Maritime Security (UKMTO) had reported. As a result of the attacks, a fire broke out on board that the crew went ashore.
“As I have warned, Yemen is treated like (the Iranian capital) Tehran,” said Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz according to the media. “Anyone who tries to harm Israel will be damaged that everyone who raises his hand against Israel will lose it,” said Katz.
Rakets from Yemen: Air alarm in Israel
Shortly after the attack, Israel was attacked again with rockets from Yemen. The air defense was activated to intercept two rockets fired from Yemen, the army said in the early morning. The sirens had cried in several areas of Israel.
The Huthis financed by Iran control a large part of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa. Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Huthi Israel has repeatedly attacked with rockets and drones – according to their own statements as an expression of their solidarity with Hamas. The Huthis also attacked merchant ships in the Red Sea and in the Gulf of Aden with alleged reference to Israel, including US trade ships.
The United States and its allies have responded to this with attacks on Huthi goals in Yemen since the beginning of 2024. In May, the Huthis and the USA achieved a ceasefire mediated by Oman. However, the Yemeni rebels explained to continue to attack Israeli ships.
In addition to the Hisbollah in Lebanon and the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Huthis belong to the “axis of resistance” listed by Iran and against Israel and the USA. The declared goal is to annihilate Israel.
