Bad news for Japan and South Korea: Donald Trump wants to claim customs for the federal states. However, according to the US President, these can still prevent the measure.
US President Donald Trump announced the first of several announced letters with customs regulations against other countries. According to this, 25 percent tariffs will be charged on all products from Japan and South Korea that are introduced to the USA from August 1st. These are therefore due apart from industry -specific tariffs.
Trump also expressed a warning to the two countries: “If you decide for some reason to increase your tariffs, the number you want to increase will be added to the 25 percent we collect.” In the letters, he called on both countries to concessions in the trade dispute – in this case the tariffs could still be averted, Trump explained.
Donald Trump sent letters to 12 to 15 countries
Trump had previously announced that 12 to 15 countries received corresponding letters by Wednesday. It is unclear whether the EU will also be there. Trump had suspended punitive tariffs against the EU for a three -month negotiation period. This ends on Wednesday.
In April, Trump introduced a base customover of ten percent to almost all imports from the EU. In addition, special tariffs apply to certain products, such as steel and aluminum and auto imports. With his customs policy, Trump wants to achieve more in the USA.
